everything-520-240

Curt Schacker, Executive VP, Business Development at EVRYTHNG, a Digimarc Company

Speaker at Digital Print for Packaging 2022.

What are some of the biggest challenges that the digital print for packaging industry is currently facing? What are some of the biggest opportunities?

"By far, the biggest challenge we face in the industry today is the serialization of product items. The trend toward serialization -- item-level product digitization -- means each product item receives a unique label or packaging. In turn, this requires major capital investments in equipment and the creation of new operational processes."

"The commensurate opportunity lies in the value item-level serialization brings to product manufacturers. Product digitization through serialization creates high value use cases like, product loyalty, recycling credits, product provenance, counterfeit detection, and item-level traceability."

Your presentation at this year’s Digital Print for Packaging conference will discuss the importance of brand protection and working with brands to outsmart counterfeiters and protect their products. What are some of the key take-aways?

"I'm looking forward to sharing real insights to how consumer brands are fighting counterfeiters by taking control of the product's journey. People attending my session will learn that every product in every category is counterfeited. The reality is the counterfeit industry is $4T annually and growing. There is no silver bullet solution. The goal is to make counterfeiting so difficult that it is no longer profitable to criminals. Innovation is the key to staying one step ahead of the bad guys. Advances in both physical and digital anti-counterfeiting technology is making it more difficult and dramatically less attractive for criminals."

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Digital Print for Packaging conference?

I'm excited to connect with both colleagues from across the digital packaging industry and product manufacturers at Digital Print for Packaging. I love the environment of collaboration and idea exchange created at these events and have no doubt we'll all be discussing the next generation of digital packaging for consumer brands.
